How Should These Clery Act Crimes Be Classified in Your ASR?

The answer is: d) 5 Burglaries in both the on-campus category and on-campus student housing facility category.

Burglary is defined as the unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or a theft and it includes forcible entry. Even though a theft only occurred in one of the rooms, it still counts as five Burglaries since he unlawfully entered all five of the rooms.

In comparison, Robbery is defined as taking or attempting to take anything of value from the care, custody or control of a person or persons by force or threat of force or violence and/or putting the victim in fear. Since the property wasn’t taken or attempted to be taken from an individual directly, it is not considered a robbery.
