Congratulations to Columbia Public Schools Deputy Director of Safety and Security John White for being one of this year’s Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.
Here are some of his notable achievements:
- Implemented security technology improvements, including converting exterior door locks to key fob entries, building secure vestibules, adopting a uniform camera system throughout the district and two-way radios.
- Reduced the rate of incidents at athletic events due to improved crowd control, safety measures and lessons learned about crowd management from his relationship with the safety and security departments at nearby institutions of higher education.
- Assisted with the distribution of thousands of face masks and other PPE to surrounding school districts.
