6 Surprisingly Common Crimes Committed in Hospitals

Arson
Although not as common as other crimes on this list, Campus Safety reports on hospital arsons from time to time. A 16-year-old in Winnipeg, Canada, for instance, managed to slip away from hospital staff in 2013, gain access to an area of the hospital under construction and light fire to a tarp. The incident caused around $1 million in damages and forced the evacuation of nearly 100 patients. In an incident that caused the same amount of damages, when David Williams was refused service at a Houston hospital in August he walked to the hospital building next door and started two fires. He was later charged with criminal arson. No one was injured in either case, but the sprinkler systems caused severe damage. Are overly strict building codes to blame?
