Officer James Do (left), Huntington Hospital
“I would like to nominate Sergeant James Do as ‘Officer of the Year.’ Sergeant Do has shown an unparalleled commitment to our department, starting with his excellent attendance record. Since being hired two and a half years ago, Mr. Do has not missed a single day of work. He has not used vacation, sick time or been late. Anytime we need Sergeant Do, he drops what he’s doing to help, day or night, regardless of the shift. His dedication goes far beyond his attendance, but also extends to his exceptional work ethic. In the time working at Huntington Hospital Sergeant Do was promoted to Corporal, then Watch Commander on the third shift. In just a short time Sergeant Do has fostered admiration amongst his colleagues and has emerged as one of our top leaders. Since Sergeant Do has become leader of the third shift morale is high and staff/customer complaints are virtually nonexistent. He leads by example and holds everyone accountable, including himself. I can sum up Officer Do’s commitment to service as I witnessed him, while off duty, during a personal visit to the hospital, stop and get a wheelchair for a struggling patient. His actions exemplify what our hospital stands for “community and compassion”. Sergeant Do brings great honor to himself, the Security Department, and Huntington Hospital. Sergeant Do is an invaluable asset to our department and should be considered as ‘Officer of the Year.'”
