  • Drastically reduced the number of fights that occurred at school by implementing a group violence intervention program to mediate and resolve ongoing conflicts.
  • Led the installation of security cameras on campus, resulting in the deterrence of misbehavior and less bias when investigating and responding to incidents.
  • Changed officer uniforms so they wouldn’t be confused with local law enforcement. This helped repair officer relationships with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Installed sensors in bathrooms to detect vaping, smoking, THC, and other dangerous chemicals, as well as detect aggressive behavior via audio sensors.
  • Conducted on-site inspections of schools that resulted in the rate of unlocked doors dropping from 55% to 10%.
  • Achieved Storm Ready Recognition.
  • Retrofitted campuses with protective window film on all lower levels.

This is just a sampling of what some of this year’s K-12 finalists achieved. They did so much more, so be sure to click on their profiles and photos below to see what else they’ve accomplished.
