Spotlight on K-12 School/District Campus Safety Director of the Year Finalist Levaughn Smart

Congratulations to Levaughn Smart, Executive Director of Security and Disaster Preparedness at Palm Springs Unified School District, for being named one of this year’s K-12 school/district Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.

Some of his notable achievements include:

  • Installed a district-wide AI-capable video surveillance system and access control system.
  • Hosted the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) basic training course and worked with a vendor to provide safety officers with three days of training to satisfy California mandates.
  • Leased a new fleet of patrol vehicles that are more environmentally friendly, saving the district about $200,000.
