“On August 28, 2024, Officer Hanson Truong demonstrated exemplary quick action and critical thinking in a high-stakes situation in the emergency department.
While monitoring a patient in the ED, he observed the patient attempting to tie a bed sheet around the bed rail and wrap it around his neck. Recognizing the immediate threat to the patient’s safety, Officer Truong swiftly intervened, preventing a potentially tragic outcome. His rapid response exemplifies the critical need for vigilance and the ability to act decisively in emergency settings, where every second counts.
The situation required not only quick action but also composur and sound judgment under pressure. Officer Truong’s quick thinking allowed him to assess the danger and execute a plan to remove the bed sheet before the situation escalated further.
