Former Professor Pleads Not Guilty of Colleagues’ Murders By Reason of Insanity

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Amy Bishop, who has been charged with shooting and killing three colleagues during a faculty meeting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in  Feb. 2010, pleaded not guilty of the slayings by reasons of insanity.

During the hearing on Thursday, Bishop also pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the attempted murders of three other colleagues who were wounded during the shooting, the Associated Press reports.

Circuit Judge Alan Mann set Bishop’s trial for March 19.
