Spotlight on Higher Education/Healthcare Campus Safety Director of the Year Finalist John Marcus

Congratulations to John Marcus, Director of Emergency Management at the University of Vermont, for being named one of this year’s higher education and healthcare Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.

Some of his notable achievements include:

  • Serves as the faculty advisor to the student-run UVM Rescue Squad, one of the primary ambulance services in the county.
  • Developed Catamount Emergency Care (Cat Ecare), a new health and safety initiative consisting of lifesaving equipment stations distributed around campus that include Narcan, AEDs, and bleeding control kits.
  • Reorganized the fire safety department into the emergency management department, resulting in improved coverage and backup for both departments, as well as efficiencies.
