Littleton Public Schools Unified Security Technology Program

LPS Director of Security and Emergency Planning Guy Grace (who is also the 2020 K-12 Campus Safety Director of the Year) and his team have implemented the following physical security technologies and improvements at LPS:

  • Physical locks
  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
  • Window and door hardening
  • Unified command center (security operations center)
  • Access control
  • Visitor management
  • Video intercom
  • Asset protection
  • Duress/lockdown/mass notification/fire alarm override
  • Fire, HVAC and freezer refrigeration monitoring
  • Weather station monitoring
  • Electronic locks
  • Audio/video analytics (facial recognition and threat analytics)
  • Reporting, documentation and emergency planning software
  • Radio interoperability

Since 2015, the system has cost about $14 million, but according to Grace, “It’s worth every penny.”
