Since 2006, Campus Safety has honored the outstanding leadership, achievement, and performance of public safety directors with the Campus Safety Director of the Year award. Nominees display superior performance in their jobs, increase overall public safety and spearhead initiatives that increase productivity under difficult circumstances. Their success is measurable in decreased crime, increased patrol presence, cost-saving initiatives, as well as less quantifiable successes, such as increased officer and staff morale, and improved community relations.

Campus Safety initially intended to recognize just one outstanding public safety director with the Director of the Year award, but in its inaugural year the award was given to two separate contenders: one in the healthcare field, and one in the education field, representing important facets of Campus Safety’s readership.  The award has expanded to honor as many as three winners, representing the hospital, higher education, and K-12 school/district categories.

The winner of the Director of the Year award receives a custom plaque and editorial profile in an upcoming issue of Campus Safety. The application and judging criteria are available at CampusSafetyMagazine.com.
