Woman Tries to Take Own Life in Wash. Hospital

A woman is in critical condition after shooting herself in a Yamika Valley Memorial Hospital bathroom.

Police say a woman attempted to commit suicide at a Washington hospital June 16.

Authorities say the woman, whose name is not being released, walked into Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and shot herself in the lobby bathroom, according to kimatv.com.

The woman is being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and is in critical condition. Yamika Police are investigating the incident.

The hospital, which has no metal detectors at the entrances, has since reopened but hospital staff has been given time to cope with the traumatic event.
