Patient Assaults Emergency Room Staff

PETALUMA, Calif. — Police arrested a man for assaulting emergency medical personnel and obstructing a peace officer at the Petaluma Valley Hospital Emergency Room.

Authorities said Sean Elliot, 32, was at the hospital on August 27 seeking medical attention. However, while hospital staff was treating him, he began chasing them inside the emergency room and became aggressive. During the incident, the suspect punched one staff member in the face, causing minor injuries, while two other hospital employees also sustained minor injuries, CBS San Francisco reports.

When officers arrived at the scene, hospital security and staff members were holding Elliot down on the floor. It is unclear why the suspect began fighting with hospital staff.
