Man in Custody after Shooting Gun on School Roof

Christian Peiper will be charged with criminal mischief, deadly conduct, places with prohibited weapons, possession of a stolen firearm and trespassing.

A Texas man is in custody after police say he fired several shots from the roof of an elementary school.

Christian Peiper, 20, and another man were taken into police custody on the morning of August 23 after residents complained about hearing gun shots, according to abc13.com.

Several charges are pending for Peiper after police say he shot a stolen three-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun on top of William Velasquez Elementary School in Richmond. Surveillance cameras recorded Peiper at the school and shell casings were later found on the roof.

Peiper has been in contact with police for drug abuse in the past.

No one was hurt in the incident and police do not believe Peiper was targeting anyone in the school, although the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities determined the other man on the roof, who was playing a bagpipe at the time of the shooting, was not involved with Peiper.

The elementary school welcomed students for the first day of school August 24.
