Man Attempts to Steal Officer’s Gun in Hospital Brawl

PINE TOWNSHIP, Ill. — A man who threatened police with a sword and tried to grab a gun at Porter Hospital was charged with four felonies.

Christopher Battishill, who is described by his mother as bipolar, became erratic Saturday and police decided to take him for a mental health commitment, the Post-Tribune reports. Battishill confronted the officers with a sword and was subsequently attacked by a police dog. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for dog bites.
