Families of two of the victims of the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School have filed lawsuits against the town of Newtown, Conn., and its board of education. The lawsuits claim that security measures at the school were inadequate.

The parents of Jesse Lewis and Noah Pozner, two of the 26 victims who were fatally shot on Dec. 14, 2012 by 20-year-old Adam Lanza, are seeking unspecified damages. The families allege that the school had security policies in place that teachers were unable to follow during the shooting, the Huffington Post reports.

Among other allegations, the families claim that a substitute teacher in one of the classrooms where students were shot did not receive training on security protocols, and that the doors on classroom could only be locked from the outside by a key the teacher didn’t have.
