College Reviews Arming Campus Police Force

Officials at Pasadena City College are reviewing whether or not police officers at the college should be armed.

Currently, the squad is not equipped with firearms, despite retaining the same powers as the Pasadena Police Department officers, reports the college’s newspaper The Courier.

PCC Police Chief Peter Michael told the newspaper that under the current policy, an officer would have to hide behind an object that is resistant to gunfire and wait for the local police department to arrive, should a gunman open fire on campus.
