More than one in four undergraduate female students at the University of Oregon have experienced a nonconsensual sexual incident according to results of a school survey released August 24.
The 2015 study was led by UO psychology professor Jennifer Freyd, who conducted a similar survey last year, according to oregonlive.com. The university’s vice president for student affairs criticized Freyd’s 2014 survey for being slanted.

For the survey, which was presented at a conference in Sand Diego, 6,000 students were randomly selected to complete a poll. Only 795 undergraduate students out of the school’s 24,000 actually completed the survey.

One in five female students also reported being the victim of completed or attempted rape or other forms of sexual victimization. The survey also found that only 36 percent of undergraduates reported thinking the university would provide safety, housing and academic support for victims.
OU said in a news release that they were happy Freyd conducted the survey to give the administration a better understanding of student experiences.
