This year 49 percent of respondents reported requiring less lethal weapons training. That figure was 51 percent in our 2013 survey.

“Less lethal weapons training is critical, any equipment hospital security officers carry, they should be trained on and there should be proof of competency,” Warren said. “That’s not just a good idea, accreditation agencies like the Joint Commission also require that officers are trained to a certain degree. You don’t want to just hand someone a piece of equipment and not have them understand how and when it’s used.”
