Congratulations to University of Maryland, Baltimore Assistant Vice President of Public Safety/Chief of Police Thomas Leone for being named one of this year’s Higher Education/Healthcare Campus Safety Director of the Year finalists.
Here are some of his notable achievements:
- Develop a diversity, equity, and inclusion task force that meets regularly with him and develops solutions to ongoing challenges.
- Department received dual accreditation for professional excellence in public safety from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
- Transitioned the department’s 911 system so that police communications operators will be automatically notified about 911 calls that occur on campus.
