BALTIMORE—The Towson University Police Department awarded three of its detectives the Medal of Merit for solving an armed robbery and home invasion case.
Frank Remesch, Matthew Tewey and Richard Saylor were among the first officers to arrive on the scene of an on-campus dormitory break-in on March 22, reports the Baltimore Sun. The attackers had already fled the scene when the trio arrived. One assailant was armed with a handgun, while the other struck a student on the forehead with a crowbar when he burst into the room.
The detectives arrested Jerry Young Jr., three days after the incident. They later arrested Jarard Nelson on April 13. Both suspects have been charged with armed robbery, breaking and entering, first-degree assault and using a handgun in a felony.
