LA/OC IAHSS Recognizes Hospital Security Officers for Saving Lives, Outstanding Performances

Award recipient Matthew Lopez of San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital.

Within the last six months, Matt has taken the initiative to complete the IAHSS Basic and Supervisory certifications to solidify a foundation within healthcare. His ongoing training has allowed him to effectively respond to medical emergencies that expedited treatment for stab wound victims, mitigated physical assaults against staff by psychiatric patients, and established a security presence to minimize unauthorized persons from loitering and/or creating security incidents.

In addition, Matt has increased his involvement with Emergency Management. He has completed multiple courses with FEMA and Columbia University, along with attending classes in Anniston, Alabama.

Matt has been nominated several times and awarded the Employee of the Month Award, which reflects his professionalism and that he consistently meets and/or surpasses organizational customer service expectations. Security Officer Matthew Lopez is an example of what a healthcare security officer should strive to be.
