Baylor University has announced a new administrative action plan to help curb sexual violence and improve services for victims.
The university’s Board of Regents approved the plan after an external review gave the board new information and advice, according to a statement from the university.

The plan “reflects a commitment to help eliminate incidents of interpersonal violence on the Baylor campus, ensure that incidents of interpersonal violence are reported and investigated properly, and ensure that the…needs of victims are given prompt and priority attention,” according to the statement.
Below is a list of the six actions the university will take immediately:
1. Improve funding for professional counseling so that students who request access to a counselor have timely access to him or her.
2. Improve and increase the amount of space dedicated to counseling and supporting victims of interpersonal violence.
3. Provide measures to immediately address the needs of students who require a Title IX investigation so that people who report being victimized can continue their education unimpeded.
4. Require yearly Title IX training for all upper-level and graduate students.
5. Require yearly Title IX training for all university faculty and staff.
6. Fund continuing education for all campus professionals who provide Title IX response, support and counseling to ensure awareness and adherence to nationally recognized trauma-informed practices in the field of interpersonal violence.
