BROWNSVILLE, Texas — University of Texas at Brownsville officials have prepared for the possibility of disgruntled employees following the layoffs expected to take place in 2013, according to a memo released last week.
The memo was released after the Texas Attorney General’s Office ruled it should be made public, The Brownsville Herald reports. A portion of the memo was redacted, as it contained “highly sensitive and ‘minute’ information about unit operations that could be used to compromise security,” according to the university.
“Regardless of how well the reduction in force process is handled, situations may develop that have the potential to generate unpleasantness and the possibility of negative reactions,” the memo reads. “In anticipation of any incidents like this from employees affected by the RIF, the UTB Police Department has taken proactive measures to upgrade the level of security on campus.”
