Published: June 13, 2012

BUFFALO, N.Y.—The 33-year-old woman who was shot and killed Wednesday morning at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) has been identified as Jackie Wisniewski, a nursing student.

Authorities now believe her former lover, 49-year-old Timothy Jorden Jr., lured Wisniewski into a stairwell and shot her several times, reports Good Morning America. One of those times, allegedly at point blank range.

Police say the attack occurred at about 8:15 a.m. inside a building that contains outpatient services and offices, and is adjacent to the hospital, reports the Associated Press. SWAT teams cordoned off all of the entrances, and the 67-acre campus of Erie County Medical Center was put on full lockdown for four hours.

Jorden is a well-known and highly-regarded trauma surgeon at the hospital who was formerly an Army Special Forces weapons expert and medic. He remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. A nationwide manhunt is currently underway.
