Unintentional Discharge Injures Cadet in Utah

A training cadet unintentionally shot his classmate while headed to a gun safety class at Utah Valley University.

Two training cadets were on their way to a gun safety class when one of the cadets accidentally shot the other at a Utah college.

The injured cadet had minor surgery at a nearby hospital but is expected to be okay. Both cadets were on their way to the gun class at Utah Valley University in Orem.

According to police, around 5:20 p.m. on May 4 one of the cadets was showing off a new handgun to another cadet when the gun went off in the Education building on campus, grazing the other cadet’s chest.

The injured cadet was treated by fellow cadets until medical personnel arrived, and the campus police turned the investigation over to the Orem Police Department, according to heraldextra.com.
