UF Football Player Arrested For Shooting at Girlfriend

Deoindre Porter faces two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

A defensive back for the University of Florida was arrested on four felony charges after allegedly shooting in his girlfriend’s direction in September.

Deiondre Porter’s girlfriend told the Gainesville Police Department he held a gun to her head and shot at her after he accused her of cheating on him, according to The Tampa Tribune.

Porter, who was the Tampa Tribune Male Athlete of the Year in 2014, was arrested and suspended indefinitely from the team. His girlfriend is ten weeks pregnant.

Porter faces charges of aggravated battery, firing a weapon into a vehicle or building and two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

The incident occurred during an exchange on the night of September 29 in his girlfriend’s apartment. Porter had played in a football game three days prior to the incident.
