UA Adds 3 Officers to Weekend Patrol
TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Arizona (UA) added three extra officers to its evening patrol on the weekends, thanks to funding from the Arizona Office of Highway safety.
The officers will specifically be watching out for underage drinking and drunk driving, according to UA Police Officer Juan Alvarez. Violators could appear in court, receive jail time, or, for a first time offender, participate in a campus diversion program, KVOA.com reports.
UA Police hope to keep the extra patrols throughout the school year, but it will all depend on funding and what other activities are happening on campus.
