San Antonio, Texas – Police arrested the 17-year-old cousin of the Uvalde mass shooter on Monday for threatening to shoot up a school and shoot his sister.
San Antonio police were dispatched on Monday to the home of the suspect for a mental health call after a family member said the teen planned “to do the same thing” as his cousin who last year opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killing 19 students and two teachers, reports KSAT.
The suspect and his family reportedly live across the street from an unidentified elementary school.
The teen’s mother called local law enforcement after she heard her son on the phone trying to get an AR-15 illegally, reports ABC13. An AR-15 was used by his cousin in the May 2022 Robb Elementary School mass shooting.
The suspect also allegedly threatened to shoot his sister in the head as she was giving him a ride. It was at that same time that he told her he would “shoot the school,” reports ABC News.
When detectives spoke to the teenager, he reportedly denied the allegations.
The suspect faces a felony charge of making a terroristic threat to a public place and a misdemeanor charge of making a terroristic threat against a family member, reports CNN. His mother told investigators that he is currently on probation and was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
