CHINO, Calif.—Three students were injured Wednesday at a school assembly when one of their classmates pulled the trigger of an AR-15 that was mounted on a police motorcycle on display at the event.
The assault rifle was locked to the side of the motorcycle, reports the Associated Press. The bike was on display at Newman Elementary School during an anti-drug program. Although none of the three children who were injured were actually shot, they were struck by shrapnel. The injuries were minor.
Police are investigating the incident and reviewing department procedures on the management of weapons.
