INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The dean of Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology who was shot on Friday by a campus security officer has died. Family members on Monday identified the victim as Dr. Cameisha Clark, 35.
The incident unfolded when a male security officer entered the campus building and opened fire. Dr. Clark and her receptionist, whose name has not been released, were both critically injured during the attack. The suspected gunman fled the scene shortly after, prompting a campus lockdown as police officers initiated a manhunt.
Both victims were rushed to the hospital, where Dr. Clark succumbed to her injuries. The second victim remains hospitalized but is currently listed in stable condition.

Dr. Clark, a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, had recently been promoted to the role of dean at Spartan College, reports 11Alive.
NBC Los Angeles reports that her family expressed their profound grief in a heartfelt statement, saying, “We are beyond devastated. Cameisha’s life was taken from us far too soon in an act of senseless violence that no woman should ever have to endure. She was an amazing person who didn’t deserve this. She was living her best life, doing the work she loved.”
Authorities Continue to Investigate Motive for Spartan College Shooting
Shortly after the shooting, authorities arrested and charged a 40-year-old security guard from Monterey Park in connection with the attack. The suspect faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and firearm possession with a violent prior conviction. He is currently in custody in lieu of $5.3 million bail.
Investigators have not yet disclosed a motive behind the shooting. However, according to Inglewood Mayor James Butts, the shooting was an act of workplace violence and not a random attack. The mayor said the shooter had a disagreement with Dr. Clark.
