A high school student in South Africa stole a bus in an attempt to get to his final year exams.

Le-Aan Adonis, 20, said he took the bus because he was desperate to take his final math exams on time, according to ABC News.

As Adonis and his classmates were waiting for the bus driver to take them to school Nov. 5, they realized he wasn’t going to show up. Adonis says his classmates asked him to drive after they found the keys inside because they trusted him to maneuver the bus.

Eventually a traffic police officer pulled the bus over near the school in a Western Cape village, but the students arrived for the exams on time.
