DETROIT — View Scan metal-detection checkpoints have reduced crime by 37 percent in Detroit Public Schools, the agency’s police chief has announced.
The decrease in crime can also be attributed to more officer training and community partnerships, DPS Police Chief Roderick Grimes tells the Detroit Free Press. The View Scan checkpoints have made potential safety issues easier to discover.
At Denby High School, Principal Kenyetta Wilbourn attributes increased attendance to the implementation of the new security measures.
