An Arizona school district opened an investigation after a school bus driver refused to let students out of his bus and scolded them.

The driver, who has since resigned, says he locked the children in because they were being loud and misbehaving, according to cbsnews.com. Parents waiting outside of the bus at a pick up area called 911 and tried prying the doors open.

After about ten minutes the driver took the kids back to Dysart Elementary School in El Mirage and released the children. A camera in the bus caught the driver yelling at the roughly 40 students inside as they cried and pleaded to get off.

The school superintendent said that all drivers are responsible for children’s safety.
