ST. TAMMANY, La. — Parents held a prayer vigil on Sunday prior to the start of school at Lakeshore High School, where a shooting was planned to take place. Three 15-years-olds were arrested for plotting to shoot at least one student and any law enforcement officers who responded to the scene.
Additional deputies will be on patrol at schools in the area today as a precaution, Northshore News reports. Counselors and staff will also be on hand to assist concerned students.
The three boys who were arrested, allegedly plotted the shooting as a group, which they called “Day Zero”, WDSU reports. The shooting was allegedly planned for Monday. A few weeks ago, other students became aware of the “Day Zero” group and reported it.
Police confiscated an unspecified number of weapons last week. The suspects — who cooperated fully with police — will appear in court today for a bond hearing.
