The University of South Carolina acted appropriately when it responded to the February classroom shooting of a professor, according to a report released August 21.
The report also gave several suggestions to the university to improve school security, mainly emphasizing the need for more emergency preparedness training.
On February 5 Sunghee Kwon killed Dr. Raja Fayad, who was a professor at USC, before shooting and killing herself. No one else was hurt in the incident.

The report said emergency notification capabilities “must be improved” and that campus safety education of students, staff and faculty should be more frequent, according to wistv.com.
The report also gave five recommendations to the school that included improving training programs, improving crises preparedness programs and evaluating campus buildings’ safety plans.
