Pennsylvania Hospital Utilizes Infant Protection System

A hospital in Pennsylvania has adopted Hugs Wi-Fi Infant Protection, which improves hospital security by monitoring newborn babies.

Stanley Healthcare, based in Waltham, Massachusetts, has clients that include more than 5,000 acute-care hospitals and 12,000 long-term care organizations.

A Pennsylvania hospital has become the first in the state to install a Wi-Fi protection system.

Allegheny Health Network’s Jefferson Hospital is using the system at its new Women and Infants Center, according to bizjournals.com.

The bracelets, which are made by Stanley Healthcare, are called Hugs Wi-Fi Infant Protection, and can be used to alert hospital staff if a baby leaves the obstetrics department without an authorized escort. The bracelets also match moms and their infants with an audible sound. The system can be monitored and alerts are pushed to staff using mobile digital devices like phones.

The hospital’s maternity center opened in November and anticipates delivering 700 to 800 infants this year.
