Parents of Phoebe Prince Settled With District for $225K

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. — The parents of a girl who committed suicide after being bullied for months have settled a lawsuit with the South Hadley Public School District for $225,000.

Phoebe Prince hanged herself on Jan. 14, 2010, ABC News reports. Her parents filed a lawsuit against the district in July of that year, alleging that officials had not done enough to protect their daughter from bullying.

The settlement was reached more than a year ago, but the details were disclosed Dec. 27 when a journalist won a court order to release the sealed information.
