A Pennsylvania judge sentenced a teen who committed a school shooting in 2013 to 12 to 30 years in prison May 4.
The Allegheny County judge said she considered that the teen endangered many others besides the four people he wounded and that the gunman was only 17 when he committed the crime, according to triblive.com.
The shooter was found guilty on nine charges, including attempted homicide, after he fired at students standing outside Brashear High School from a nearby wooded area in Pittsburgh. The teen was arrested by a SWAT team at his home shortly after the shooting.

The judge said in court that she had little power over the sentence or the rehabilitation programs available to the teen because of the nature of his crime. The judge also told the teen the amount of time he spends in prison is up to him.
“I don’t know – I don’t have a crystal ball – when you’ll be fully rehabilitated and safe to release back to the community,” Judge Jill Rangos said in court. “It will be up to you to demonstrate through your behavior and your accomplishments while incarcerated.”
