At the Northeast Colleges and Universities Security Association’s (NECUSA) 61st annual conference in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., this June, several campus public safety professionals were honored with awards for their outstanding work this past year.

Springfield College Chief Judy Jackson was presented with the inaugural Judy Jackson Award for Exemplary Performance. The award was previously called the Award for Exemplary Performance but was renamed in Jackson’s honor after a unanimous vote by the NECUSA board. Jackson, who retired this summer after 42 years in law enforcement, was honored for transforming her small, fledgling department into a fully sworn and armed agency. She was also recognized for mentoring numerous professionals in the New England campus law enforcement community during her career.

Skidmore College Officer Robert Pierce received the Robert Bunker Award for Outstanding Performance for saving the life of a student experiencing a medical emergency in her residence hall.

Sgt. Brendan Bosquet, Officers Audrey Dunne, Diane Steeves and Charlie Smith of Keene State College were also presented the Robert Bunker Award for Outstanding Performance for their response to the electrocution of a campus employee.
