Montana State Bans Hard Liquor at Fraternity

BOZEMAN, Mont.—Pi Kappa Alpha has been ordered by Montana State University to stop serving hard liquor at its house.

The ban was prompted by allegations made by a female student that she was raped at a party there. School officials said they wanted to react quickly since they had been investigated by the federal government for the mishandling of previous sexual assault allegations, reports NBC News. The fraternity has been cited for violations of the university’s alcohol and student-conduct codes.

Both Pi Kappa Alpha and Signma Chi fraternities are currently under suspension because they are being investigated for two sex assaults that allegedly occurred in separate incidents in September. Whether or not the state will file criminal charges remains to be seen.
