For all types of campuses, video surveillance continues to play a key role in keeping people safe.
In Campus Safety’s recent Video Surveillance Survey, 94% of K-12, higher education and healthcare respondents reported having one or more video surveillance solutions installed on their campuses.
Another 82% of campuses reported using those systems on a daily basis. More than half (57%) said their security cameras frequently provide evidence for investigations, and another 33% said video surveillance systems sometimes provide evidence. Drilling down further, hospital respondents said their security cameras frequently (75%) or sometimes (25%) provide evidence in investigations.
Additionally, nearly one in three respondents (31%) said their video surveillance systems frequently prevent crime and another 47% say their cameras sometimes prevent crime.
While video surveillance has proved helpful in making many campuses safer, it can also provide pure entertainment when hilarious moments are captured. And thanks to the fact that 38% of Americans also own home security products, the internet is filled with funny video surveillance footage.
