A Michigan high school was placed on immediate lockdown after a well-known pro-life activist was gunned down and killed in front of the school Sept. 11.
According to police, 33-year-old Harland James Drake shot James Pouillon, 63, because he disagreed with the pro-life protestor’s use of posters of fetuses in front of children. Pouillon regularly protested in front of the campus.
Drake is now in police custody.
The shooting occurred shortly after Ossowo High School students began classes. No students were involved or injured during the shooting. Students were allowed to leave the campus with a parental escort, according to WLNS News.
A second victim, Mike Fuoss, 51, was also found dead just a few miles from the campus. Drake allegedly admitted shooting Fuoss as well. The second victim, who was a local business owner, had no ties to the anti-abortion activist. However, according to the Detroit News, Fuoss may have been killed over a financial debt.
The news source is also reporting that Drake wanted to kill a third individual, although no motive has been disclosed and the person was not actually attacked.
