George Washington University has just implemented a new policy that limits to two years the amount of time victims can file formal sexual assault complaints.
The time limit is unusual, according to the GW Hatchet. The student newspaper polled 50 other U.S. colleges; none of which have a time limit.
The school implemented the new policy because it is difficult to resolve cases after two years and allowing more than two years to elapse may be unfair to those accused of assault.
George Washington University also does not allow students to anonymously take their cases through a formal judicial process against faculty or staff.
