HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Former University of Alabama professor Amy Bishop, who received a life sentence for killing three people at the college, filed court documents Monday stating that she plans to appeal her guilty verdict.
Bishop pleaded guilty to murder in September after she opened fire at a faculty meeting in February 2010 that left three dead and three others wounded. While entering her plea, Bishop waived her right to appeal a guilty verdict that resulted in prosecutors dropping a possible death penalty. Because of this, it’s unclear if the challenge can move forward, CBS News reports.
