Student Convicted of Threating ‘Murderous Rampage’

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — A Southern Illinois University Edwardsville student was convicted Tuesday of threatening a “murderous rampage.” His lawyer claims he is the victim of misunderstood rap song lyrics.

Olutosin Oduwole wrote the words found in his car, which was towed, the Boston Herald reports. He also ordered four handguns online in July 2007 and was charged with unlawfully possessing a loaded handgun in his apartment on the campus.

The writing from Oduwole’s car mentioned a “murderous rampage” at a large university, similar to shootings by a student at Virginia Tech in April 2007, unless $50,000 was posted to a PayPal account.
