Clery Center, Code Blue Partner for National Campus Safety Awareness Month

HOLLAND, Mich. — Code Blue Corp. is partnering with the Clery Center for Security on Campus to sponsor the 2012 National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM) in September.

“Creating safe campuses is about more than just installing emergency phones and mass notification solutions,” said Chief Operating Officer David Cook. “It is about educating and empowering students, and we applaud the work being done by the Clery Center to make this happen.”

NCSAM received the unanimous support of Congress in 2008. Each September, the Clery Center partners with colleges, universities, and other agencies to offer campus safety programming. This year’s “Safe Campus, Strong Voices” campaign focuses on prevention, victim empowerment and provides tangible tools for both men and women to work together to shatter the silence of campus sexual violence and create a safer campus.

“As a security company, it is vital that we support those organizations that are as committed as we are to reducing violence on campus,” said John Lapham, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

“We’re excited to partner with Code Blue to provide tools and resources to more colleges and universities nationwide as they engage in important dialogue with their campus communities during National Campus Safety Awareness Month,” said Alison Kiss, Executive Director of the Clery Center for Security On Campus.

NCSAM was created by Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment (PAVE) and the Clery Center.  Working together with other leading sexual assault groups, Clery Center and PAVE have put together toolkits to create effective, simple-to-run campaigns in an ever-busy campus environment. The campaign provides materials, training, and ideas to bring prevention education programs to campus, to hold tabling events, and to collaborate with other groups and offices on campus throughout the month of September and beyond.
