Chicago District Security Director Steps Down
CHICAGO — Chicago Public Schools security director Michael Shields is stepping down following an especially violent summer in which children were shot, wounded and killed.
Chicago Police officials said Shields is returning to the force as a lieutenant, ABC News reports. He will undergo training on updated policies and laws before being reassigned.
Shields joined the district as safety and security director in 2009, after a school year that ended in the violent deaths of 40 students.
