Registration is now open for Campus Safety Conference (CSC) at EDspaces, happening November 12-14, 2024, in Houston, Texas, at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
Now in its third year, this co-located event offers the content Campus Safety Conference attendees have come to expect and love and free access to EDspaces sessions. It opens the door to more resources for school and college administrators, campus security executives, law enforcement, and emergency management professionals by providing new insights into architects and distributors in the education design market. This continued partnership is a natural progression for the two events as campus physical safety and classroom design go hand-in-hand.
CSC attendees will have the chance to walk the EDspaces show floor which will feature manufacturers and distributors that demonstrate how the physical learning environment can meet the pedagogical needs and technology demands to support an educational institution’s mission of student success and well-being.
EDspaces and Campus Safety Conference will also offer an expanded Campus Safety Pavilion featuring dozens of safety and security solutions providers.
Pricing increases on June 4. Register today to get the best available price!
While we are still finalizing the agenda for CSC at EDspaces, the agenda for our national Campus Safety Conference event, happening July 8-10 in Atlanta, is live. CSC at EDspaces will feature some of the same sessions but will offer some unique sessions as well.
EDspaces is also finalizing its agenda. Until then, here are some 2023 sessions that were of interest to CSC attendees:
- Reimagined Design Processes for Student Safety & Belonging: Accompanied by a Howard University representative, two architects discussed equity-driven design processes that promote safety and belonging through student-centered, community-specific solutions. They highlighted the capacity communities of care have to support individuals’ needs across physical safety, social-emotional well-being, and school culture.
- Education Spaces to Support Mental Health: An expert discussed mental health research, shared discussions with educators, and provided design ideas for spaces that support psychological well-being. The presenter also covered how the physical environment can facilitate different mental health approaches that often work in conjunction to bolster psychological wellness.
- Peer-To-Peer Education Roundtable: Facility Operations: Several industry experts led table discussions on the important “how to” issues impacting schools, including what technologies, design features, and lighting work in safety and security; methods for scaling modernization projects; how to communicate with the public about construction projects; and helping parents/community members understand why schools need to change.
- Beyond the Classroom — Design Strategies for the Whole Student: A Portland Public Schools social worker joined two architects to explore how designers can respond strategically to Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and answer the questions: How do you renovate an established “cells and bells” school that nurtures the whole student?; How do parents and teachers play a role?; and What does social and emotional learning look and feel like to a child?
