Campus Police Officer Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot on Campus

EL PASO, Texas — An El Paso Community College police officer was found dead in his police car at the campus on Sunday.

Police began searching for the unnamed 58-year-old man around 5 p.m. after he didn’t clock out at the end of his shift, reports KTSM.com. Initially, police reported the incident as an officer down; however, police said he died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the chest.

The search ended shortly after 9 p.m. No students were on campus during the incident.
